Job Title: Case Development Intake Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Case Development Intake Attorney is responsible for managing a docket of approximately 50 cases, working closely with an assigned case manager. Key duties include investigating cases, preserving evidence, developing medical and triage assigned cases, and securing accident reports and property damage photos. The attorney will also be responsible for investigating and photographing scenes, sending letters of representation, opening record act requests, ordering lifetime driving records, obtaining witness statements, and performing criminal and social media investigations on clients and adversaries. Additional responsibilities involve assisting clients in developing medical damages, handling property damage claims, communicating with clients and adjusters, preparing and approving expense requests, preparing monthly status reports for clients, and submitting case reviews per firm policy to assist in evaluating cases. The attorney will manage clients during the case development intake process in preparation for file transfer to the litigation team and, in some instances, prepare and document demands and act as a liaison between management and adverse adjusters to settle certain cases.
Essential job functions include:
- Intake function
- Investigating and developing commercial cases
- Accepting incoming calls from potential new clients
- Ascertaining relevant facts and discussing all aspects of potential new clients' claims
- Securing authorization to sign up, decline, or further evaluate claims
- Explaining attorney-client contracts
- Signing up cases in and out of the office
- Covering on a rotational basis
- Handling after-hours calls and securing new client sign-ups in office, in person out of office, and/or via DocuSign
- Sending out status letters to clients monthly
- Conducting client meetings
- Returning all client calls by the end of the business day
- Performing out-of-office sign-ups and being on-call after hours
- Ensuring 100% compliance on grade cards
- Ensuring ethical and legal obligations of all subordinates
- Maximizing case values and attorney fees recovered
- Completing additional projects as assigned
Competencies required for this role include strong initiative, excellent management and leadership skills, attention to detail, effective communication and delegation, customer service, emotional intelligence, high energy motivation, sales ability, multi-tasking, time management, and the ability to organize and prioritize work. The attorney must be capable of motivating and energizing support staff to generate the best results for clients and the organization. Approachability and professionalism in communication with employees are essential. Legal research and analysis skills, as well as bilingual proficiency (Spanish is a plus), are also important.
Education & Experience:
The candidate must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be licensed to practice law in Texas, in good standing. The role requires 0-3 years of personal injury experience, a strong commitment to client service, excellent writing skills, and experience working on cross-functional teams. Previous customer service or sales experience is preferred, especially with after-hours on-call experience. Previous experience supervising non-attorneys is also beneficial. A valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
Salary Information:
The Case Development Intake Attorney position offers an annual salary of $90,000.
