Job Title: Litigation Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The litigation associate at the law firm will be involved in a wide array of legal activities within the firm’s diversified practice. They will be expected to work across multiple departments and report to the supervising attorney in charge of each department. Responsibilities include:
- Handling all aspects of litigation such as investigations, legal research, representation before administrative agencies, and appearances in federal and state courts.
- Engaging in motion practice, developing legal strategies, managing complex discovery, overseeing electronically stored information, advising clients, and working towards settlements.
- Participating in non-litigation matters, including estate planning, real estate transactions, and other business-related activities like drafting contracts, and involvement in business formations and acquisitions.
- Collaborating with diverse teams and engaging directly with clients and other attorneys.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the litigation associate position must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of two years of legal experience.
- Possess strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, judges, paralegals, and administrative staff.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, along with effective case management capabilities.
- Ability to handle a varied caseload and work productively on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Teamwork skills and individual initiative.
- Commitment to the firm’s core values, including respect, creativity, client-centeredness, integrity, and adherence to the firm's inclusion and diversity framework.
- Understanding and adherence to applicable rules of professional responsibility and ethics.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited institution.
- Licensed to practice law or the capability to become licensed in New York.
Salary Information:
The law firm provides competitive compensation for the litigation associate role, commensurate with experience. The salary range is between $75,000 and $100,000, based on the associate’s professional experience. Additionally, attorneys are eligible for year-end bonuses, contingent on individual and firm performance.
The law firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
- Health insurance with 80% of individual premiums covered by the firm, totaling approximately $10,000 annually.
- A matching 401k and profit-sharing program.
