Job Title: VP, Global Head of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)
Job Responsibilities:
The Global Head of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is tasked with leading the implementation of the global EHS strategy, initiatives, and oversight. The role involves developing a highly effective global and regional team to ensure compliance with regulations, laws, and standards. The responsibilities include risk management, employee safety, environmental stewardship, technical leadership, brand protection for the company and its customers, and maintaining a best-in-class safe working environment.
The individual will report to the Chief Compliance Officer within the Corporate Legal Department and be responsible for developing and executing the company's global EHS strategy. This includes ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and fostering a culture of “Safety First, Always” and sustainable environmental stewardship across all operations. The role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing EHS programs within a global electronics manufacturing environment. The individual will ensure a balance between industry standards, risk management, legal compliance, and regulatory requirements to develop practical and scalable solutions for a global electronics manufacturer. They will assess and implement actions that support the company's core values on risk mitigation, workplace safety, and environmental sustainability.
Essential Duties include:
- Team Development: Managing direct reports and functionally aligned regional teams, leading recruitment and retention of EHS experts, developing KPI-driven performance measurement systems, and building organizational capability through EHS educational and training programs.
- Communication: Ensuring structured and transparent communication with staff and leadership teams, creating executive briefs, collaborating with corporate executives, board members, business leaders, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Operational Deliverables: Establishing and enforcing global EHS policies, championing EHS strategy at the executive level, embedding EHS practices into operations, identifying and mitigating risks, and establishing thought leadership in EHS.
- Cost Management: Implementing corrective actions cost-effectively, utilizing tools to track changes and identify cost impacts, and driving forecast planning and budgetary needs for all EHS programs.
- Internal Relationships: Operating across organizational boundaries, collaborating with senior managers, updating management on EHS goals, and building trusting internal relationships.
- External Relationships: Building networks to understand EHS challenges, ensuring updated standards are adopted, representing the company in public forums, and industry conferences.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant, progressive experience; OR Master’s degree with 10 years of relevant, progressive experience; OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Law, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred. An LLM in Health and Safety Law is a plus.
- Professional EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001 are preferred. Additional environmental management certifications like ISO 14001, CEM, CESCO, or REHS/RS are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience leading EHS audit and/or investigation teams.
- Proven ability to influence individuals at all levels of a global company.
- Experience managing complex EHS issues, including globalization, ESG/sustainability, multi-stakeholder partnerships, NGO/CSO community involvement, human rights, sustainable supply chain management, climate change, and crisis management.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing change management initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- High-level understanding of the company’s “Safety First, Always” culture and ability to embed it into global operations.
