The Brandywine Claim Director is responsible for managing and resolving complex asbestos, long term exposure, and environmental claims. This position reports to a Brandywine Vice President and involves analyzing contracts, policies, applicable laws, and claim facts to determine coverage positions and resolve claims. The position also involves conducting factual investigations, negotiating cost sharing agreements, assigning defense counsel, evaluating claims, and providing recommendations to management. The Claim Director will also maintain claim files and respond to internal requests for information.

The ideal candidate will have a high degree of technical competence in handling high exposure claims, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and a 4-year college degree (law degree preferred). Desired qualifications include experience managing defense counsel and disputed coverage matters, as well as analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze contracts, policies, applicable law, and claim facts to determine coverage position and resolve claims
- Conduct factual investigations and communicate with policyholders, remediation experts, and counsel to gather claim facts
- Negotiate cost sharing agreements with carriers/policyholders
- Assign defense counsel and manage litigation strategy and budgets
- Evaluate claims and make recommendations to management for resolution plans
- Maintain physical/electronic claim files and respond to internal requests for information
- Provide the highest levels of service to Chubb business partners
- Share technical expertise with colleagues and identify opportunities for operational enhancements
- Some travel may be required

Minimum Requirements:

- High degree of technical competence in handling high exposure claims and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with emphasis in asbestos and/or environmental claims
- 4-year college degree (law degree preferred)
