Job Title: Claims Consultant - Accountants and Professional Liability
Job Responsibilities:
The Claims Consultant at the company is tasked with managing a caseload of third-party Accountants and Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) claims from inception to final disposition. Given the nature of these claims, which often involve litigation, experience in handling Professional Liability matters is essential. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough investigations and evaluating the information obtained.
- Analyzing and determining coverage, liability, and damages based on the facts of each claim.
- Communicating with insureds regarding coverage, liability, damages, and other pertinent issues.
- Setting appropriate expense and indemnity reserves and regularly monitoring them for necessary adjustments.
- Presenting cases to management for reserve authority when needed.
- Developing and implementing resolution strategies through negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Proactively managing litigation and legal counsel, including planning, execution, budgeting, and bill review.
- Analyzing potential extra-contractual liability when necessary.
- Attending trials and mediations as needed.
- Contributing to broader claim and enterprise goals through participation in audits, projects, training, and product development initiatives.
- Preparing comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, and industry trends.
- Collaborating with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments.
- Addressing inquiries from agents and policyholders, ensuring superior customer service.
- Providing training and marketing support to Underwriters.
Education and Experience Information:
- A is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience handling third-party Professional Liability insurance defense or Professional Liability coverage litigation.
- Familiarity and experience with AI-powered tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, is considered a plus.
- Candidates must have knowledge and experience in handling all aspects of liability claims.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong strategic thinking ability and execution skills.
- Advanced negotiation and technical claim handling skills, with knowledge of insurance coverage issues being advantageous.
- Superior time management, task prioritization, and desk management skills.
- The ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely, with the capacity to influence and persuade others.
- An ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented attitude.
Work Arrangement:
This role offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates residing near one of the company's office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) are expected to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not reside near an office will have a remote work arrangement but should be prepared to come into an office as business needs arise.
Salary Information:
The annualized base pay range for this role is between $121,280 and $181,920. This range is based on an analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay may vary and could be above or below the listed range depending on factors such as performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is one component of the company's total compensation package, which may also include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
