Job Title: Attorney Advisor
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a civilian attorney providing legal advice and counsel to the Air Force and Space Force.
- Support the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) in administrative law, claims, environmental law, contract law, labor law, and international law.
- Perform developmental assignments under the guidance of senior attorneys and/or the Judge Advocate, including assessing legal compliance and the advisability of local policies, practices, and proposed actions.
- Evaluate claims by and against the government, assess legal risks, and recommend dispositions.
- Conduct special projects and participate in initiatives and studies, such as researching policy precedents and analyzing data affecting program operations.
- Prepare written correspondence and documentation, draft a variety of documents, and present reports to diverse audiences.
- Assist in preparing cases for trial and representing the Air Force before courts or administrative bodies.
Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must have completed a full course of study in a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and hold the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
- Must have passed the State Bar and be currently licensed as an attorney in good standing in a . state, territory, or commonwealth.
- Must maintain bar membership in at least one jurisdiction throughout employment.
- Recent law graduates must have completed their degree and bar requirements within the previous two years or will complete these requirements by 1 May 2025.
- To qualify as a GS-11, candidates must have one year of professional law experience, a second professional law degree (.), or demonstrated superior law student work or activities, such as high academic standing or significant legal aid program participation.
- Volunteer work experience, both paid and unpaid, can contribute to meeting qualification requirements.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for this position is $72,553 to $134,435 per year.
- Pay scale and grade for this position range from GS 11 to 13.
