Job Title: AVP, Risk Consulting
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop Excel models for assessing risk-weighted exposure to company policies for specific claims, considering various parameters such as damages values, trigger and allocation rules, and coverage defenses.
- Provide advisory services to claim teams and management based on modeling results, highlighting parameters significantly affecting the company's potential exposure.
- Calculate carriers’ percentage shares for cost-share agreements under applicable allocation rules and evaluate the financial impact on the company.
- Review, evaluate, and critique models, settlement proposals, and allocation proposals from counterparties; present analysis results to claim teams and management.
- Interface with counterparties’ modelers as needed to understand and evaluate their modeling parameters and the underlying basis.
- Assist claim teams and management with strategic analysis input for resolving coverage disputes.
- Verify the accuracy of draft allocations and other calculations prepared by claim handlers and/or counsel.
- Utilize pre-packaged programs to create graphic coverage charts.
- Respond to information requests from management, reinsurers, auditors, etc., in a timely manner.
- Prepare accurate reports on work performed.
- Deliver high levels of service to company business partners.
- Mentor and assist colleagues, sharing technical expertise with staff members.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance operations and achieve organizational objectives constructively and positively.
- Some travel may be required.
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum Requirements:
- High technical competence with Excel, including writing complex formulae.
- Strong analytical skills.
- 4-year college degree.
- Preferred degree in law, actuarial science, or accounting/finance.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in insurance coverage, especially in asbestos, environmental, and other long-tail claims.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Experience in collaborative work environments.
- Working knowledge of using Visual Basic to create macros in Excel.
- Proficiency in other Microsoft Office utilities.
