Job Title: Assistant District Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) positions are available within the City Court, County Court, Grand Jury, and Major Crimes Units of the organization. The primary responsibilities of an ADA include:
- Representing the state in prosecuting criminal cases at various levels of the court system.
- Preparing and presenting cases at trial, engaging in plea negotiations, and handling appeals if necessary.
- Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents, such as motions and briefs.
- Working closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prepare cases for trial.
- Advising and guiding law enforcement officers on legal matters related to criminal investigations.
- Engaging with victims, witnesses, and other parties involved in the legal process to ensure their rights and interests are represented.
- Managing a caseload efficiently, ensuring all cases are handled in a timely manner.
- Upholding the ethical standards of the legal profession and the policies of the organization.
Education and Experience Information:
- Entry-level candidates must be in their third year of law school and intending to seek admission to the New York State Bar.
- Experienced attorneys are ideally expected to have litigation or appellate experience, with a preference for those with a background in criminal prosecution or defense.
Salary Information:
The current salary structure for the Assistant District Attorney positions is as follows:
- ADA I (0-1 years of experience): $80,000
- ADA II (1-3 years of experience): $90,000
- ADA III (4-5 years of experience): $98,000
- ADA IV (6-7 years of experience): $108,000
- ADA V (8-9 years of experience): $117,000
- ADA VI (10+ years of experience): $125,000
