Lateral Assistant District Attorney - Domestic Violence Bureau - Organization: **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is hiring experienced attorneys for the position of Felony Assistant District Attorney in the Domestic Violence Bureau. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cases involving intimate partner violence, ranging from misdemeanor assault to homicide. The Domestic Violence Bureau is dedicated to compassionate, effective, and collaborative responses to these serious crimes and is a leader in innovative and holistic practices.

The Domestic Violence Bureau is committed to a trauma-informed approach, focusing on the needs of survivors beyond the criminal case. Prosecutors work closely with the Brooklyn Family Justice Center to provide wrap-around services for victims, such as counseling and legal representation for immigration, family court, and housing matters. This center is located on the same floor as the Bureau, allowing for seamless collaboration.

In line with trauma-informed practices, prosecutors in the Domestic Violence Bureau are trained to try cases without the participation of the survivor, who may not be ready to cooperate with the criminal justice process. This evidence-based prosecution approach helps develop investigative and legal skills. Prosecutors become well-versed in the latest laws regarding hearsay, Sirois hearings, and Molineaux arguments for the admission of evidence. They also rely heavily on digital evidence, including social media and cell phone data.

The Domestic Violence Bureau is a fast-paced and high-volume environment, handling approximately ten thousand cases each year. This means that as a Felony Assistant District Attorney, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of felony cases and eventually take on vertical prosecutions, including homicides.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have at least five years of litigation experience and a proven track record of jury trial verdicts.
