Job Responsibilities
The summer program is crafted to immerse associates in the practice of law and the culture at the law firm. The program includes:
- Robust training and development opportunities
- Engaging work assignments across core practice groups: Corporate, Environmental, Energy, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Real Estate, and Technology & Intellectual Property
- Pro bono opportunities
- Mentorship from experienced attorneys
- Relationship building and community engagement

As a summer associate, responsibilities include:
- Drafting transactional documents
- Researching and writing legal research memos
- Drafting significant portions of briefs
- Framing discovery requests
- Learning the mechanics of closing deals
- Participating in client meetings, hearings, closings, depositions, and trials
- Participating in training and professional development programs
Education and Experience Information
The law firm seeks applications from students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, skills, and interests. Relevant experience may include:
- Professional experience prior to law school
- Community engagement
- Participation in law school organizations, law review, or moot court

Salary Information
Summer associates receive the weekly equivalent of an entry-level associate salary in their office location. The weekly salary in the Portland office is $3,462.
