Job Title: Assistant Corporate Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations, and ensure legal compliance.
- Plan, manage, and direct the provision of legal advice, counsel, and representation (both internal and external) to protect the company’s interests and operations under the law.
- Assist in developing and conducting preventative law programs for company employees.
- Ensure organizational compliance with laws, regulations, and industry and company policies.
- Negotiate and draft documents or deal-specific clauses in written agreements with outside vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.
- Stay current on pertinent federal laws, regulations, rulings, interpretations, and court decisions as they relate to company operations.
- Provide an interface with external counsel.
- Represent the company at designated internal and external meetings.
- Participate in professional activities to stay current on legal trends and industry regulations.
- Uphold the customer service standards and management philosophy of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate required.
- 7-9 years of high-quality legal experience with an emphasis on healthcare or contract law preferred.
- 7-9 years of experience with contract management and review preferred.
- Significant contract drafting and negotiation experience required.
- Significant experience handling employment matters required.
- Ability to provide thorough analysis on legal issues, meet deadlines, and follow through on assignments required.
- Ability to implement and monitor repeatable, controlled processes required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Principles, methods, and practices of legal research in support of policies, operations, procedures, and regulatory requirements required.
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and problem-solving skills to research, analyze, and apply legal principles, facts, and precedents to legal issues required.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
- Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others, negotiate, and close legal agreements required.
- Strong customer focus, with outstanding interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills required.
- Participative management style with strong team skills required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified or potential eligibility to practice law in Wisconsin required.
