Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager in the Accounting Methods group is responsible for optimizing federal tax accounting methods for public and private companies. This includes areas such as IRC 263(A) capitalization, depreciation accounting methods, expense acceleration, and revenue deferral. The role involves identifying federal tax benefits and correcting exposures, working with clients in various industries including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and consumer products. The Senior Manager will collaborate with colleagues and client leaders in tax, accounting, and finance, as well as operations, software, manufacturing, and supply chain departments.
Key duties include:
- Conducting research on tax implications and preparing studies to outline alternative courses of action.
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable tax authorities and identifying options to minimize tax and reporting burdens.
- Developing and implementing solutions to provide clients with maximum tax benefits and staying informed of new developments affecting clients’ tax positions.
- Representing clients before tax authorities and responding to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues regarding tax accounting methods.
- Creating new strategies to advance client positions and suggesting marketing approaches for new client acquisition.
- Exhibiting thought leadership in Tax Accounting Methods and developing effective marketing plans with partners and business development managers.
- Supervising and reviewing the work of senior associates and associates, ensuring they are well-trained, and delivering performance feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance preferred.
- Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate (.) preferred.
- Seven or more years of prior federal tax client service experience required.
- Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals required.
- Experience with accounting methods, tax provisions, corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships preferred.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") required.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries are determined after considering factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national range for this position is $99,750 - $262,500. The same range applies to Maryland, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, and Washington DC.
