Job Title: Manager, Employment Investigations
Job Responsibilities:
As a Manager, Employment Investigations, the primary responsibilities include leading a team tasked with conducting thorough and fair workplace investigations. This involves managing complex investigations from start to finish, which includes conducting intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners within Employment Law, Human Resources, Employee Relations, and other business units. The manager must handle complaints related to violations of law or policy, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other inappropriate behaviors. A significant part of the role involves discerning systemic issues and using data to develop long-term solutions. Additionally, the manager is responsible for setting clear expectations for the team, recognizing contributions, and matching strengths to impactful work. Effective communication with all relevant parties during the investigation process is crucial, as well as maintaining respect and empathy in challenging situations.
Education and Experience Information:
Minimum qualifications for the role include over 10 years of experience in investigating and advising on employment-related matters and at least 3 years of experience in people management. The candidate should have experience conducting investigations that can withstand legal scrutiny in various jurisdictions, working independently, and fostering collaborative relationships in a cross-functional environment. They should be adept at documenting investigation findings, presenting these findings to leadership, and possess problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environments are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a Juris Doctorate or an advanced degree in a relevant field, experience identifying relevant legal issues, project management experience at both strategic and tactical levels, and formal training or certification in Workplace Investigations. Experience in conducting or managing investigations or practicing labor and employment law is also preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $143,000 to $207,000 per year, with the addition of bonuses, equity, and benefits. Compensation is determined by the individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
