Senior Director, Legal: Providing Expert Counsel for Ardelyx

Ardelyx, a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Senior Director of Legal to join their team in Waltham, Massachusetts. With a mission to discover, develop, and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs, Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States and agreements for international development and commercialization. As a key member of the Legal team, the Senior Director will provide proactive and strategic expert counsel on a wide array of legal issues, working closely with internal business partners and potentially taking on a leadership role as the company and department continue to grow.

Responsibilities:

- Partner with the SVP of Legal to assess business needs and mitigate risks
- Draft, review, and negotiate various types of agreements, including trade/distribution, supply, commercial, and corporate
- Collaborate with the Compliance team to ensure healthcare compliance programs reflect applicable laws and regulations
- Liaise with Government Affairs on proposed and enacted laws relating to pricing and market access matters
- Provide proactive and strategic legal advice to cross-functional business partners
- Serve as a mentor and foster professional growth for other Legal team members
- Develop and present training materials on legal issues
- Work independently and collaboratively with other departments

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school with 8+ years of relevant experience
- In-depth knowledge of commercial, compliance, and regulatory matters in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in contract drafting and negotiating complex agreements in biopharmaceuticals
- Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, with a preference for market access-related regulations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment:

- Hybrid corporate office and remote-based position
- Boston area preferred

Salary Information:

- Annualized base pay range: $266,000 - $326,000
- Actual base pay determined by relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity
- May also include annual bonus target and equity awards
