Counsel, Real Estate - Legal Position in Palo Alto, California
Overview
- Tesla is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel with at least 5 years of commercial real estate leasing and development experience
- The ideal candidate will have national leasing and subleasing experience, as well as real estate development and acquisition experience
- This attorney will provide strategic legal advice to various internal teams and handle a high volume of transactions
- The position requires a strong work ethic, outstanding deal and time management skills, and the ability to prioritize a heavy workload efficiently
- The role can be based in either Palo Alto or Austin, Texas
Responsibilities
- Represent the company in all commercial real estate transactions, including complex agreements, acquisitions, compliance and contractual obligations
- Negotiate a high volume of complex leases, subleases, licenses and agreements within tight deadlines
- Draft and review ancillary real estate documents
- Review due diligence items and handle closing matters
- Identify and analyze complex business and legal issues and provide proactive advice to manage risks and support business goals
- Address lease interpretation issues and work with internal teams to handle post-lease execution matters and resolve disputes
Requirements
- Member in good standing with the California or Texas bar, or ability to register as in-house counsel
- Extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions, either in-house or at a top tier law firm
- Flexible, organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment
- Strong drafting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to form strong working relationships with internal business partners

Expected Compensation
- Annual salary range of $172,000 - $282,000, plus cash and stock awards and benefits
- Actual pay may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience
- Additional elements may also be included in the total compensation package
