Job Summary:
- Responsible for handling complex, high-exposure personal injury lawsuits against MTA agencies in state and federal trial courts.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies to achieve favorable and cost-effective resolutions.
- Accurately assess liability and damages and make appropriate recommendations.
- Conduct legal research, secure evidence, prepare witnesses, and draft legal documents.
- Communicate and collaborate with external departments and assist in the goals of the MTA Legal Department.
- Work independently and as part of a litigation team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications:
- Required: . Minimum of 4-5 years of significant litigation experience.
- Preferred: Admission to District Courts for Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. 5-8 years of progressive experience in tort litigation.
- Extensive knowledge of local, State, and Federal laws and regulations related to tort litigation.
- Experience defending municipalities, corporate entities, and common carriers.
- Exceptional analytical, verbal, writing, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

- Salary Range:
- Executive Agency Counsel, Non-Managerial (Level A): $104,512 - $161,523
- Executive Agency Counsel, Non-Managerial (Level B): $114,019- $182,429
