Job Title: Assistant Attorney General I

Job Responsibilities:
- Represent the State of Texas at legal proceedings focused on locating, establishing, enforcing, modifying, or terminating court orders related to child support and medical support.
- Act as a representative for the State of Texas in administrative hearings.
- Provide legal advice, consultation, and technical assistance to the Child Support Program.
- Develop and deliver training sessions.
- Perform related work as assigned.
- Maintain the necessary knowledge to perform essential job functions effectively.
- Attend work regularly in accordance with the agreed-upon work schedule.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive and protected information.
- Comply with all agency policies and procedures, particularly those related to ethics and integrity.

Education and Experience Information:
- Must have graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (.) degree.
- Must be licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas.
- Must be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas by the start date.
- Should have knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code.
- Must possess skills in legal writing, mediation, and negotiation.
- Must be skilled in serving as a trial lawyer, preparing sound opinions, conducting investigations, and performing legal research.
- Must be proficient in using a personal computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval.
- Must be adept at handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must exercise sound judgment and effective decision-making.
- Must be able to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback.
- Must work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment.
- Must provide excellent customer service.
- Must be able to work in person at the assigned work location, perform all tasks at the designated workspace, and collaborate with coworkers for the entirety of every workweek, unless on approved leave.
- Must arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel.
- Must be willing to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Must be able to lift and relocate up to 30 lbs.
- Must be willing to travel, including overnight travel, up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in handling Family Law cases.
- Experience with jury trials.
- Experience in managing a high-volume legal practice.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is preferred.

Salary Information:
- The salary for this position is $6, monthly.

Additional Information:
- This position may be based in any Texas city with an OAG Child Support Division office.
- The candidate must collaborate with relevant stakeholders throughout the state regardless of primary physical office location.
- Some travel to and from El Paso and other worksites throughout the state for in-person meetings will be necessary.
- The position is full-time with standard hours of per week.
