Job Title: Tax + Benefits Associate - Energy Industry

Job Responsibilities:
The Tax + Benefits Associate will be a key member of the Tax Practice subgroup within the department at the law firm. The primary focus of this role is on transactional tax matters within the energy industry. The associate will represent clients involved in renewable energy tax credit transactions, including financing and mergers and acquisitions related to solar energy, wind energy, energy storage facilities, and carbon capture facilities. Key responsibilities include:

- Engaging in a transactional tax practice with a specific focus on the energy sector.
- Collaborating with tax equity investors, lenders, project developers, and sponsors, including regulated utilities and their unregulated affiliates.
- Addressing a wide range of tax issues pertinent to the energy industry.
- Drafting partnership agreements and tax opinions.
- Participating in firm-wide interactions and maintaining client contact to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
- Supporting growth and development by being involved in professional organizations and participating in speaking and writing opportunities.

Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should possess:

- 5 to 8 years of experience in a transactional tax practice, particularly within the energy industry.
- Experience representing clients in renewable energy tax credit transactions.
- A background in working with tax equity investors, lenders, and project developers.
- Partnership experience, including drafting partnership agreements and tax opinions, which is particularly beneficial.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Law firm experience is preferred; however, experience in a large accounting firm will also be considered.
- A license in good standing in the state of practice.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $305,000 - $380,000, dependent on the candidate's relevant years of experience.
