- The Department of Law offers s the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day work of the state's civil attorneys through unpaid internships.
- Interns are assigned to a specific section within the DOL, allowing them to specialize in a particular area of interest.
- Responsibilities include research, writing, and observing a variety of legal activities, such as court proceedings and client meetings.
- Interns are also eligible to participate in training sessions offered to Deputy Attorneys General throughout the year.
- Law students may apply to work in one of 11 sections based in Newark, 14 sections based in Trenton, or 1 section in Voorhees.
- Deadlines for applications vary depending on the desired internship term, with the summer program deadline being March 15, fall semester deadline being July 15, and spring semester deadline being November 15.
