Internship Opportunities with the New Jersey Division of Law

The New Jersey Division of Law offers law students the valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop their legal skills through our internship program. As a law student, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced attorneys and gain insight into the inner workings of the legal system. Our internship program is divided into three sessions: Fall or Spring Semesters, and Summer Session.

The Summer Session, which runs from June through August, is currently accepting applications. The deadline for submission is March 15. If you are interested in applying for the Summer Session, please read the following information carefully.

Position Details:
- Internship positions are available at the Trenton and Newark offices.
- Interns will be assigned to one of the Division's sections and will be supervised by a Deputy Attorney General.
- An Assistant Attorney General will have overall supervision of the program.
- Interns will have the opportunity to perform a variety of law clerk responsibilities, including research and writing.
- They will also have the chance to observe a wide range of lawyering activity, attend court proceedings, and participate in training sessions offered to Deputy Attorneys General.
- Assignments to specific sections are based on student interest.
- Interviews and offers for positions in the program are conducted on a rolling basis.

Application Process:
- Interested law students must submit an Internship Application, resume, legal writing sample, and their most recent grade report to the appropriate recruiter.
- Interviews and offers are made on a rolling basis.
- If offered a position, students must complete a Confidential Background Investigation Clearance Form.
