Job Title: Counsel (Operations)
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents associated with architecture, engineering, construction, and other services provided by the company to both public and private sector clients. This includes documents related to teaming arrangements, joint ventures, confidentiality agreements, and insurance, with a requirement to handle these in both English and Spanish.
- Provide guidance on risk management and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Serve in an advisory capacity by making recommendations that significantly impact the conduct of the organization's business.
- Collaborate with management and staff to resolve pre-litigation disputes and potential claims.
- Manage various types of litigation matters and claims by utilizing outside counsel retained by the company to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Handle subpoenas, document requests, and other litigation-related items with limited support staff.
- Conduct research and review legislation, cases, legal precedents, and emerging government policies to address contract-specific or other matters as needed.
- Prepare and review legal memoranda and briefs relating to organizational risks and activities.
- Provide staff guidance on compliance with federal and state laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Offer support to multiple offices and assist other team members within the broader East Region as required based on experience and workloads.
Education and Experience Information:
- A . Degree from an accredited law school with a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken, to assist the LATAM region.
- Membership in good standing with any . state bar.
- Ability to travel periodically, approximately 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with an engineering, architecture, or construction company.
- Experience in claims/litigation handling, including managing outside counsel related to architecture, engineering, and construction issues.
- Expertise in negotiating and drafting contracts for infrastructure projects procured and delivered through alternative delivery mechanisms, such as design-build, progressive design-build P3, and EPC.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis, particularly as they pertain to business and technical concerns, to executive management, commercial and finance colleagues, technical colleagues, and peers.
- Outgoing, personable, and a team player.
- Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groups.
- Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
- Ability to generate ideas, make recommendations, and reach consensus.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
Salary Information:
- Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications, with the expected range being $120, - $160,.
Additional Information:
- This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future.
