Possible Duties

Drafting responsive motions, dispositive motions, memorandum of law, and appellate briefs
Familiarizing oneself with Federal and local rules of practice
Attending dispositions, meetings with Agents and accompanying attorneys to observe court proceedings
Conducting legal research and writing memoranda on various legal issues
Assisting attorneys with trial preparation and other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

Must be a current law student, with at least a GPA
Must be a United States citizen or owe permanent allegiance to the United States
Must pass a background investigation
Must have excellent writing skills and academic standing

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in legal research and writing
Familiarity with Federal and local rules of practice
Interest in criminal and civil litigation
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

The USAO Middle District of Florida is currently seeking outstanding law students for a summer legal internship in 2025. As a law student volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in legal research and writing while working with a dedicated team to enforce federal criminal and civil laws.
