Job Title: Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal support for Medicaid plan operations across various states.
- Review and analyze state, provider, and vendor contracts, along with existing state and federal laws.
- Analyze new legislation potentially impacting plan operations.
- Provide legal advice and support to business units on operational matters and business initiatives.
- Respond to legal issues related to Medicaid health plans, including those concerning state, member, provider, and vendor relationships.
- Assist the business in responding to legal inquiries from internal and external sources.
- Collaborate with the Legal team and other departments, including Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management.
- Build strong relationships with assigned markets and become a trusted advisor to market and segment leaders.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active admission to at least one state bar association with the ability to register as in-house counsel if required by applicable jurisdictions.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice law.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of Federal and State healthcare benefit programs (., Medicare, Medicaid/CHIP/MLTSS, DSNP).
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills with the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to navigate complex legal issues promptly.
- Ability to identify regulatory and business barriers and work through them to find business solutions.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to reassess priorities to meet various expectations and deadlines.
- Deep understanding of Medicaid regulations, policies, and state contracts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate legal issues and concerns.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience at a reputable law firm, as in-house counsel for a healthcare company, or at a government agency with a focus on healthcare.
- Experience working directly with State Medicaid agencies.

Salary Information:
- Pay range: $138,900 - $191,000 per year.
- This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.

Additional Information:
- The position is a remote role with a preferred location in Georgia.
- Alternative locations include Louisville, KY (hybrid); Virginia/WDC (hybrid); Chicago, IL (hybrid).
- Minimal travel may be required to company headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, and other designated locations.
- The role requires a minimum internet service speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload for remote work.
- Employees in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive a bi-weekly payment for internet expenses.
- Company provides telephone equipment for remote work requirements.
- The role requires working from a dedicated space to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.
