Job Title:
Senior Claims Examiner, Miscellaneous Professional Liability

Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for resolving moderate to high complexity and exposure claims, which may require mediation or litigation. The primary duties include handling claims from coverage inquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis to achieve timely and accurate resolution. The role involves mitigating indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments to all internal and external stakeholders. The position requires increased decision-making responsibility within authority limits, minimal oversight, and offers training and technical support to team members. Specific responsibilities include:

- Investigating, negotiating, and settling complex primary and excess policy miscellaneous professional liability claims, such as those made against professionals like real estate brokers, accountants, and IT consultants.
- Analyzing and determining coverage under primary and excess professional liability insurance policies, drafting both routine and complex coverage correspondence, and managing claims involving coverage litigation.
- Managing litigation filed nationwide against insureds, appointing and directing defense counsel, and working towards economical claim resolution.
- Communicating with underwriting as needed to manage claims and alerting them of significant developments.
- Promptly communicating with the Claims Manager on adverse case developments and providing information on issues affecting the miscellaneous professional liability product line.
- Analyzing and conveying complex issues, recognizing alternative approaches, and developing action plans.
- Maintaining and adhering to company guidelines and procedures, ensuring proper adherence to internal reporting requirements.
- Contributing to and assisting in the implementation of initiatives, discussions, and action plans brought forth by the Claims Manager.
- Participating in agent-related functions and meetings as required.
- Actively participating in the ongoing training and development of the claims examiners as indicated by the Claims Manager.

Education and Experience Information:
- The candidate must have 5-10+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience, with excess liability experience being a plus.
- A college degree and/or professional designation is required, with a JD preferred.
- The candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, a sound understanding of insurance coverage posed by professional liability policies, and the ability to analyze and convey complex issues.
- Experience in determining contractual obligations, insurance coverage analyses, and investigations is necessary, with insurance coverage litigation experience being an advantage.
- The ability to manage complex litigation, set loss and expense reserves, and evaluate settlement values is required.
- The candidate must be able to work collaboratively and as a team player within the unit and professional liability division as needed.
- The ability to proactively self-manage a caseload is necessary.
- Travel is required as necessary, approximately 10%.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position ranges from $73,600 to $122,600, with a 15% bonus potential.

Additional Information:
The company offers hybrid working schedules of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. US Work Authorization is required, and the company does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
