A boutique New York-based legal practice is on the lookout for a talented Associate Attorney to become part of its close-knit, collaborative team. This firm focuses on an eclectic mix of legal areas, including education law, employment and labor matters, developmental disabilities law, corporate advisory services, civil disputes, and administrative proceedings. Offer comprehensive legal counsel to a diverse array of institutions, including charter schools, private educational organizations, developmental disability service providers, and similar entities. Responsibilities include advice on governance, regulatory compliance, human resources, contracts, and risk management.
Represent students of all ages—from preschool to post-secondary, with and without disabilities—in matters concerning educational entitlements and civil rights protections.
Handle litigation and dispute resolution, including drafting legal documents, managing discovery, presenting motions, and participating in court conferences and hearings at both the state and federal levels.
Engage in arbitrations and administrative proceedings, contributing to or leading hearings, trials, and appeals before relevant agencies.
Collaborate closely with senior legal professionals to provide strategic advice on non-litigation matters, helping clients navigate complex legal landscapes.
A Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited institution.
Licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar.
At least 2 years of hands-on legal experience in relevant practice areas.
Exposure to education law or civil litigation is considered a plus.
Superior legal research, writing, and analytical skills, paired with an aptitude for clear and persuasive communication.
Strong organizational abilities and the discipline to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Confidence in interacting with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and regulatory bodies.
A collaborative mindset suited for working within a small, agile firm environment, where teamwork and flexibility are valued.
