Salary: Starting from $72,520, with annual raise and generous benefits package
Overview:
- Seeking a supervising attorney with immigrant workers’ rights experience
- Will work with a dynamic and committed litigation team to dismantle systems that perpetuate poverty and injustice
- Directly involved with migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and community groups
- Handle cases, provide supervisory support, and assist in directing legal work
- Based out of Kalamazoo office with option for flexible remote work schedule

- Growing and nationally recognized non-profit law office
- Statewide division of MAP
- Fights for justice and dignity alongside the farmworker community
- Provides systemic, multi-forum legal advocacy, community engagement, and direct legal representation
- Prioritizes cases including wage theft, trafficking, discrimination, sexual harassment, and more
- Currently has 7 permanent staff and 7 summer seasonal advocates based in various locations in Michigan
About Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP):
- Works to advance safety, independence, and economic stability for those affected by poverty, racism, and other oppressive systems
- Provides civil legal aid for those unable to afford an attorney for over 50 years
- Serves 13 counties through five legal aid offices and manages 6 statewide programs
- Staff of about 220 people in various offices across Michigan
- Qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness and Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP)
Required Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan or qualify for admission by waiver
- 5+ years of mission-aligned work or lived experience with low-income or immigrant communities
- Experience litigating at state or federal levels or filing immigration affirmative applications
- Willingness to occasionally work flexible schedule including travel and evening or weekend outreach
- Demonstrated success working effectively in diverse teams
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to social, racial, and economic justice and FLS's mission
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant (10+ years) mission-aligned, supervisory, litigation, or immigration experience
- Experience effectively supervising teams and projects across lines of identity and differences
- Working knowledge of labor-based immigration relief
- Experience negotiating, filing administrative complaints, and litigating employment claims
- Spanish and English communication skills
- Bilingual Spanish-English communication skills or proficiency in Haitian Creole or indigenous languages native to Mexico or Central America
- Familiarity with farmworker advocacy, employment and immigration law, or legal services and advocacy
