Staff Attorney - Family Law Unit
Job Responsibilities:
The Staff Attorney in the Family Law Unit will provide legal representation to low and middle-income litigants in Family Court and Supreme Court, focusing on matrimonial cases and other family matters in Monroe, Orleans, and surrounding counties. A key focus will be on assisting victims of domestic violence. The attorney will be part of a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing high-quality civil legal services, including direct representation, legal counseling, community outreach, education, and training. The position may also involve providing on-site support and advocacy for domestic violence victims at the Willow Family Justice Center and collaborating with community partners to deliver appropriate services.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor degree
- Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar or have received their JD and qualify for a judicial practice order.
- High level of initiative, self-motivation, and organization
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong negotiating ability
- Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas efficiently and accurately
- Respectful and empathetic consideration for clients
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and community partners
- Access to reliable transportation
Salary Information:
Compensation for the position ranges from $87,000 to $94,500, based on experience.
