Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Associate Attorney to manage and litigate complex residential and commercial foreclosure matters, title issues, and real estate litigation on behalf of mortgage servicers and investors. The role encompasses direct client engagement, court appearances, and the oversight of a diverse caseload. This opportunity is suitable for an attorney with a strong background in New York foreclosure law and a proven ability to operate independently or as part of a team. The position offers flexibility with potential for in-office, hybrid, or fully remote work based on qualifications.

Location:

  • Iselin, NJ

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of contested residential and commercial foreclosures and related litigation

  • Prosecute commercial foreclosure actions from initiation to resolution

  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and trial documents

  • Appear in state and federal court for hearings, trials, and appeals

  • Conduct legal research and analysis of complex client cases

  • Advise clients and implement directives through online client portals

  • Collaborate with legal staff and partners on documentation and litigation strategy

  • Develop matter budgets, track billable time, and ensure client billing compliance

  • Potential to supervise junior attorneys or support staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience preferred (less experience may be considered with strong qualifications)

  • Substantial experience in New York mortgage foreclosure law

  • Ability to manage cases independently from intake through resolution

  • Strong courtroom and negotiation skills

  • Willingness to travel for court appearances as needed

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New York (Required)

  • Licensure in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and/or Connecticut is a plus

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • High level of professionalism and discretion

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong interpersonal communication with clients and colleagues

  • Proficiency with legal practice management systems and client communication portals
