Job Title: Director, Federal Tax (Corporate)
Job Responsibilities:
As a Director within the Federal Tax team at the company, the primary responsibilities include:
- Managing tax provision preparation projects for quarterly and annual reporting for both SEC registrants and private entities.
- Overseeing . tax compliance projects for multinational, public, and private equity portfolio companies.
- Managing risk, resources, staffing, and financial performance for multiple engagements, including billing, collections, and project budgets.
- Advising clients on income tax accounting aspects of complex transactions, including IPO readiness, acquisitions, corporate restructurings, restatements, and post-bankruptcy fresh start accounting.
- Leading special projects in specific technical areas such as corporate transactions, tax basis balance sheets, valuation allowance assessment, accounting for uncertain tax positions, indefinitely reinvested earnings assertion, outside basis differences, and share-based payments.
- Reviewing clients’ income tax accounting processes and internal controls for assessment of risk and remediation actions.
- Identifying key tax issues and accurately quantifying the impact in a clear, concise, and thoughtful analysis.
- Building client relationships and demonstrating a working knowledge of client businesses.
- Conducting day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work products.
- Supervising, developing, mentoring, and motivating Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering a team-based atmosphere.
- Managing workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project teams.
- Demonstrating commitment and desired behaviors while working with others who have diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives.
- Regularly supporting business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additional work, thought leadership, new client pitches, and optimizing the compliance process.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of experience with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and corporate tax compliance, with demonstrated ability to resolve all common and many complex technical issues.
- CPA or Licensed Attorney.
- Prior proven experience leading others while managing multiple work streams.
- Demonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high-quality deliverables.
- Passion for training and mentoring staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel).
- Experience with OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision preferred.
- Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines.
- High motivation to learn and grow and actively identify trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches.
- Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $175,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, the company offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and company performance.
