Job Title: Senior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal works under the guidance of a Supervisory Paralegal and/or a Project Manager, undertaking a range of tasks that require a moderate level of complexity. The key responsibilities include:
- Conducting moderately complex case and legal research.
- Summarizing deposition transcripts to assist in case preparation.
- Reviewing case-related materials to identify potentially conflicting statements or areas that may require further investigation.
- Drafting preliminary versions of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.
- Assisting attorneys by inputting information into, and utilizing, CaseMap and TimeMap.
- Creating and maintaining witness files for easy access and reference.
- Organizing and maintaining case files to ensure they are up-to-date and easily navigable.
- Conducting searches in PACER and other court filing sources to gather necessary case information.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization, which necessitates US Citizenship due to the nature of the work location.
- A paralegal certificate, a JD, or current attendance at an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed is required. Alternatively, an equivalent level of legal training or experience may be considered, or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
- A minimum of two years of litigation paralegal experience or project-related experience is necessary, with trial experience being particularly beneficial.
- At least one year of experience in automated litigation support is required.
- The role demands a highly trustworthy individual who can manage information and case details for highly sensitive cases.
- A sound working knowledge of the federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources is essential.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, along with thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Hands-on familiarity with various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems, is necessary.
- The role also requires hands-on familiarity with eDiscovery tools, such as Relativity.
- The ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure is very important.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various trial software, such as TrialDirector.
- Experience with CaseMap and TimeMap is preferred.
