Job Title: Senior Counsel - Public Finance
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel within the company's national Public Finance organization is responsible for providing transactional support and regulatory advice to the company's national Public Finance business. The role involves performing significant and complex legal work while regularly interacting with management. The Senior Counsel is expected to oversee legal research, analysis, consultation, and documentation within a framework of legal compliance and risk management. Additionally, the role involves managing expenses for outside counsel relationships and providing strategic direction on when to leverage outside counsel. The Senior Counsel is also responsible for networking with outside organizations to advance the legal interests and legal health of the corporation and its industry.
The candidate is expected to have knowledge of municipal bond underwriting, with experience in a variety of municipal financing structures as well as the applicable Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) rules being critical. The role requires combining advice from outside counsel with analysis and feedback from internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Senior Counsel position are required to have a Juris Doctorate (.) degree from an accredited law school and must be licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. The role typically requires industry-relevant experience of 8+ years. Additionally, candidates should have an active state license with multiple issuers.
The successful candidate must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities, including competencies in business ethics, decision making and critical thinking, effective communications, establishing and maintaining trust, external resource management, influencing through expertise, legal analysis, legal function, negotiating, and problem solving. Preferred skills include legal compliance, legal consulting, legal practices, legal risk, regulatory compliance, and risk assessments.
Salary Information:
The base salary for the Senior Counsel position ranges from $130, to $291,. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business, and/or individual performance.
