Job Title: Head of Construction Defect Claims

Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a large team handling all aspects of construction defect claims, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of liability claims of the highest complexity and/or severity.
- Develop and strengthen the skills of direct reports by creating growth opportunities.
- Monitor team performance to identify and address problematic trends, escalate issues, and recommend solutions to operational leadership.
- Advocate a culture of process efficiency and continuous improvement in work completion.
- Foster a highly effective and engaged employee culture by selecting top talent, providing continuous coaching, recognizing employees, and holding others accountable for team development.
- Promote claims customer service excellence by understanding and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
- Identify changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high-quality outcomes and develop training solutions to sustain those practices.
- Identify technology changes to support practice execution and collaborate with IT counterparts on design, build, and testing.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with business partners internally and externally to ensure profitable growth.
- Develop coverage acumen and ensure proactive management of litigation.

Education and Experience Information:
- Significant experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, with substantial experience in Construction Defect claim management.
- Multi-jurisdictional expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- An advanced degree, including Juris Doctor (.), is preferred.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of claims teams in multiple locations.
- Experience in directly managing and guiding a team of managers responsible for overseeing all aspects of claims.
- Regular participation in claims roundtable discussions focusing on coverage, liability, and damage assessment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Leadership skills, including planning, organizing, delegating, and developing direct reports.
- Ability to persuade and influence people through superior written and oral communications, effectively challenge ideas, and argue in favor of one's point of view.
- Possess emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Embrace changes, invite feedback related to performance, and constructively deal with criticism.
