Senior Commercial General Liability Claim Representative – Hybrid Position

Compensation Overview:

The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range and will be determined based on factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the candidate's skills, education, and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a Senior Commercial General Liability Claim Representative to join our team. This hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days remote per week) can be based out of any of the following locations: Diamond Bar, CA; Irvine, CA; San Diego, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; or Rancho Cordova, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, reserving, negotiating, and resolving assigned General Liability related Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims.

What Will You Do?

As a Senior Commercial General Liability Claim Representative, your responsibilities will include:

- Directly handling assigned severe claims
- Providing quality customer service and ensuring timely coverage analysis and communication with insureds
- Consulting with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed
- Directly investigating each claim through prompt and strategic contact with appropriate parties to determine liability and damages
- Completing outside investigations as needed
- Actively engaging in the identification, selection, and direction of appropriate internal and/or external resources for specific claim activities
- Verifying the nature and extent of injury or property damage by obtaining and reviewing appropriate records
- Maintaining claim files and documenting activities in accordance with procedures
- Proactively reviewing Claim File Analysis for adherence to quality standards
- Utilizing diary management system to ensure timely handling of claims
- Establishing and maintaining proper reserves
- Recommending appropriate cases for discussion at roundtable
- Attending and/or presenting at roundtables/authority discussions for collaboration of technical expertise
- Actively sharing experience and knowledge to improve the results of others
- Developing and employing creative resolution strategies
- Promptly and properly disposing of claims within delegated authority
- Negotiating with insureds and claimants or their legal representatives
- Managing litigated claims and developing litigation plans
- Applying litigation management through the selection of counsel and evaluation of legal expenses
- Tracking and controlling legal expenses
- Attending legal proceedings as needed
- Updating appropriate parties on claim status
- Recognizing cases that should be transferred to another level of claim professional
- Appropriately handling confidential information
- Fulfilling specific service commitments made to certain accounts
- Representing the company as a technical resource
- Actively providing mentoring and coaching to less experienced claim professionals
- Sharing accountability with business partners to achieve quality results
- Evaluating all claims for recovery potential
- Managing both allocated and unallocated loss adjustment expenses
- Obtaining and maintaining required Insurance License(s)

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3 years of bodily injury liability claim handling and/or litigation experience
- Skilled in coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis, and litigation management
- Extensive claim and/or legal experience and technical expertise
- Able to make independent decisions on most assigned cases
- Open to the ideas and expertise of others
- Thorough understanding of business line products, policy language, exclusions, and effective claims handling practices
- Strong negotiation and customer service skills
- Demonstrated coaching, influence, and persuasion skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technology aptitude
- Attention to detail
- Analytical thinking and judgment/decision making skills
- Basic legal knowledge and intermediate medical knowledge

What Is a Must Have?

- High School Degree or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of bodily injury liability claim experience and/or comparable litigation claim handling experience
