Job Title: 2L Summer Associate IP Patent Prosecution or Disputes
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in the 2026 Summer Associate Program within the Intellectual Property (IP) practice, focusing on either Patent Prosecution or Disputes.
- Gain a realistic introduction to the practice of law and day-to-day life as an associate at the law firm.
- Engage in legal research, drafting, and other activities typical of a law firm environment.
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys to support IP-related cases and projects.
- Spend at least eight consecutive weeks, and no more than ten weeks, working with the firm during the summer program.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be a second-year JD student eligible to participate in the Summer Associate Program.
- Required to be eligible to sit for the patent bar, necessitating a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Doctor of Philosophy Degree in a recognized technical subject.
- Candidates should provide a resume, unofficial transcript, and cover letter as part of the application process. An updated, unofficial transcript for the spring semester may be submitted when available.
Salary Information:
- Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience.
- The summer associate salary is calculated using the annualized salary for a first-year associate in the specific market.
- The full-time base annual salary for this position in the Chicago market is projected to be $225,000, equating to approximately $4,327 per week for summer associates in 2026.
- This salary range represents the law firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting for a position in Chicago.
