Job Title: Senior Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in close collaboration with FLU technicians assigned to a case. The incumbent exercises more independent judgment than a Paralegal/Legal Assistant I. Key duties include:

- Reviewing case materials to understand the questions under consideration.
- Conducting research and summarizing relevant articles from trade magazines, law reviews, published studies, financial reports, and similar materials for attorneys' use in preparing opinions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Preparing digests of selected decisions or opinions, incorporating legal references and analyses of precedents involved in areas of well-defined and settled points of law.
- Interviewing potential witnesses and preparing summary interview reports for attorney review.
- Participating in pre-trial witness conferences, noting possible deficiencies in case materials such as missing documents or conflicting statements, and requesting further investigation by other agency personnel or personally conducting limited investigations at the pre-trial stage.
- Preparing and organizing trial exhibits, including statistical charts and photographic exhibits.
- Verifying citations and legal references on prepared legal documents.
- Preparing summaries of testimony and depositions.
- Drafting and editing non-legal memoranda, research reports, and correspondence related to cases.

Education and Experience Information:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization, which requires . Citizenship.
- Requires a paralegal certificate, JD, or current attendance at an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.
- At least two years of litigation paralegal experience is required, with trial experience being very helpful.
- A minimum of one year of experience in automated litigation support is necessary.
- Sound working knowledge of the federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw are essential.
- Must possess hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
- The role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- The ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure is crucial.
- The position requires knowledge of laws, precedential decisions, and federal criminal and civil procedure.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of financial litigation and legal research and analysis sufficient to perform assigned case development is required.
- The position will be required to perform legal research sufficient to compose legal documents and correspondence, verify citations and statutory references, search for and analyze legal relevance, summarize data, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action.
