Job Title: Legal Assistant - Litigation - Environmental and Natural Resources
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced legal and administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and other colleagues within the Environmental and Natural Resources Practice Group.
- Manage office logistics and business intake processes, including running adversary searches, drafting screening memos, and engagement letters, and opening new files.
- Prepare, revise, and format legal documents and correspondence using various software applications; proofread documents for content, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Transcribe digital audio files to create written transcripts of recorded information as needed.
- Prepare documents and applicable fees for electronic filing and e-file documents with federal and state courts and other agencies.
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications including telephone calls, mail, and emails.
- Support client activities and provide direct client assistance and support.
- Maintain and manage attorney/paralegal calendars – docket court deadlines, conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and meetings.
- Assist with in-office tasks, projects, overflow work, administrative tasks, and other duties to support attorneys, paralegals, and colleagues.
- Navigate workflow technology and collaborate with central team for efficiency and quality.
- Manage workflow and priorities effectively.
- Proactively support team members and demonstrate a positive and collaborative approach.
- Serve as a resource to teammates and manage logistics for internal and external meetings.
- Liaise with courts as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- High school education with 4+ years of legal assistant experience or two years of legal assistant training plus at least 2 years of legal assistant experience.
- Advanced legal assistant skills including accurate typing and working knowledge of personal computers.
- Strong knowledge and skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading skills, and advanced knowledge of legal terminology.
- Strong litigation and e-filing experience with knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules.
- Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty areas preferred (., bankruptcy, real estate, construction).
- Familiarity with software such as iManage, iCompli, Intapp, Intapp Time, Emburse, and CompuLaw preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide variety of people.
- Excellent organizational skills to handle the work of several attorneys/paralegals.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under general supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move weights of at least ten pounds.
- Repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement for computer work.
- Clear and concise speech for communication.
- Ability to understand speech from others.
Work Environment:
- Professional office atmosphere with exposure to computer screens.
- Sedentary work primarily involving sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
- Occasional off-hour meetings and events may be required.
Schedule:
- In-office every day for the first 90 days; hybrid schedule with generally 3 days in-office and 2 days remote after 90 days.
- Additional in-office days may be required based on business needs and task demands.
- Hybrid work structure subject to change at any time.
Salary Information:
- Montana salary range: - per hour.
- Discretionary bonus may be available based on performance.
