Job Title: West Coast Calendar Senior Staff Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Advises attorneys and staff on court procedure and rules.
- Provides procedural strategy advice to attorneys.
- Offers guidance on court calendaring, civil and criminal procedure, and individual judge’s rules for state and federal cases.
- Monitors paper and electronic service and filing of court-related documents.
- Assists with and oversees the entry of litigation deadlines into Compulaw, a calendaring software.
- Reviews court filings for compliance with procedural rules.
- Conducts research on court rules, civil procedure, and case histories.
- Prepares correspondence for court personnel and external services for court filings.
- Acts as a liaison between attorneys and the courts.
- Assists with applications for various court bar memberships.
- Coordinates payment of filing fees, bar dues, and association memberships.
- Collaborates with other managers in the Court Services Department and other departments such as CaseStream, Service Center, and Research & Information.
Education and Experience Information:
- JD Degree and active admission to practice law in California, Oregon, or Washington State.
- Minimum of three years of related experience.
- Judicial Clerkship or prior Managing Attorney experience is advantageous.
- Experience and knowledge of California state and federal court procedures.
- Familiarity with Aderant-Compulaw or similar calendaring software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize high-volume workloads.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Ability to manage change within a dynamic and progressive organization while maintaining commitment to the law firm's core values.
Salary Information:
- Expected salary range for California Major Markets: $139,000 - $241,000.
- Expected salary range for National markets: $129,000 - $211,000.
- California Major Markets include San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within the National range.
- Compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, determined by firm and individual performance.
