Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager, Accounting Methods is a key role within the department's Specialized Tax Services (STS) business. The primary responsibilities include optimizing federal tax accounting methods for various companies. The role involves helping both public and private companies identify federal tax benefits and correcting federal tax exposures. The Senior Manager will work with clients from industries such as technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and more, collaborating with leaders in tax, accounting, finance, operations, software, manufacturing, and supply chain departments.

Key duties comprise:

Research:
- Identifying situations requiring research and conducting investigations.
- Confirming accuracy of facts and sources.
- Preparing studies of tax implications and outlining alternative courses of action to clients.
- Composing effective research memos and developing presentations for marketing and sales opportunities.

Tax Compliance:
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities.
- Identifying options for minimizing client tax and reporting burdens.
- Completing appropriate workpapers and tax returns forms.
- Communicating with clients and personnel regarding any issues.

Tax Consulting:
- Developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to provide clients with maximum tax benefits.
- Staying informed of new legal and factual developments affecting clients’ tax positions.
- Identifying process improvements.

Tax Controversy:
- Representing clients before tax authorities.
- Responding to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities regarding tax accounting methods issues.

Tax Specialization:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues.
- Identifying client opportunities related to tax specializations other than accounting methods.

Strategy Development:
- Developing new or improved ideas and strategies.
- Suggesting marketing approaches for new client acquisition.

Marketing and Business Development:
- Exhibiting thought leadership within Tax Accounting Methods.
- Working with partners to develop and execute an effective marketing plan.
- Preparing proposals and engagement letters.
- Conducting research on tax topics related to transfer pricing.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervising and reviewing the work of Senior Associates and Associates.
- Ensuring team members are well trained.
- Evaluating performance and providing feedback.
- Acting as a Career Advisor to team members.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Juris Doctorate (.) preferred.

Experience:
- Seven or more years of prior Federal tax client service experience required.
- Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals required.
- Experience with accounting methods and preparing/reviewing tax provisions preferred.
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships preferred.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") required.

Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word preferred.
- Experience with tax-related software and research databases such as Caseware and GoSystems preferred.

- Ability to manage a team of tax professionals.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with firm and client personnel.

Salary Information:

Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined after considering numerous factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national salary range for this position is $99,750 - $262,500. This range is consistent across various specific regions including Maryland, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, and Washington DC.
