Job Responsibilities:
The Program Director is a crucial part of the Energy, Environment, and Land Use (EELU) Program at a reputed firm's Law School. The director is responsible for the overall coordination of the program, including curriculum development and providing support to students and alumni. The role involves ensuring programmatic oversight and reports administratively to the Vice Dean of the Law School and functionally to the Faculty Co-Directors of the EELU Program. This position is currently funded for a one-year term with the potential for annual renewal.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing a strategic plan to advance the goals and objectives of the Law School in relation to the EELU Program.
- Coordinating with the EELU Program Faculty Co-Directors, EELU Program Coordinator, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Research, Career Services Office, and others to provide programming, course advising, and career advising to law students.
- Organizing specialized programming, conferences, and guest speaker events with the support of the Program Coordinator.
- Leading the planning of the annual Distinguished Lecture on Climate Change Governance and supporting the annual State of the Environment Conference.
- Assisting students in selecting externship and research opportunities that align with EELU employment opportunities.
- Collaborating with students, host organizations, and funders to secure fellowship and funding applications.
- Managing the Private Climate Governance Lab and working with the Private Climate Governance Lab Fellow to execute and promote Lab projects.
- Increasing curricular opportunities by tracking regular EELU course offerings and assisting faculty in avoiding scheduling conflicts.
- Preparing white papers on environmental, energy, and land use issues for the Program’s climate governance white paper series.
- Possibly offering a course in the energy, environment, and land use law area as an adjunct professor/part-time instructor, subject to vetting and approval.
- Expanding outreach and developing relationships and partnerships with local, regional, and national alumni, donors, funders, and EELU employers.
- Managing media and marketing, including editing programmatic web pages and maintaining publication lists, social media, and newsletters.
- Conducting alumni outreach to strengthen relationships with alumni involved in EELU activities.
- Engaging in legal scholarship relevant to environmental law and attending approved academic conferences.

Supervisory Relationships:
The Program Director reports administratively to the Vice Dean and functionally to the Faculty Co-Directors of the EELU Program. The position may also supervise a Private Climate Governance Fellow and law school students working as research assistants in the fellowship program.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctorate (.) is necessary.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in energy, environmental, and land use law, or a related legal field, is necessary.
- Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and openness to foster collaboration with key leaders across the institution and community is necessary.
- Executive-level interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- The ability to demonstrate maturity, creativity, and initiative in expanding the Law School’s presence locally and nationally is essential.
- The ability to make sound administrative/procedural decisions using a high level of discernment is necessary.
- The ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects is required.
- The ability to provide technical advice and information to staff in the area of expertise is necessary.
