Job Responsibilities

Law clerks are expected to draft litigation working documents, prepare documents based on case facts, interpretations of law, and compliance with state and federal standards. They evaluate case information to determine status, monitor, track, and follow up on documentation, case files, or other assignments to ensure timelines are met and actions are completed. Additionally, they prepare cases by conducting legal research and gathering evidence, and review cases, applications, files, and records to determine necessary actions.
Education and Experience Information
The position is open to current law students or recent law school graduates. Applicants must be enrolled in a law program or have recently graduated to be eligible for either a clerkship or externship. Clerkships are paid positions and do not offer school credit, while externships are unpaid but may be eligible for school credit, subject to verification with the applicant’s college or university's internship coordinator.
Salary Information
Law clerks work part-time and are compensated at varying rates depending on their year of study or recent graduation status. The beginning rate is $26 per hour for first-year law students, $28 per hour for second-year law students, and $30 per hour for third-year law students or recent graduates.

The position is part-time, temporary, and not eligible for benefits. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal history check and comply with the Driver Eligibility standards. The role involves typical office setting risks like using office equipment safely and observing fire regulations. Physical demands are minimal, with occasional requirements for walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving.
