The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking an experienced and dedicated leader to serve as Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights Programming and Services. This is a unique opportunity to shape systemwide initiatives, enhance compliance and equity efforts, and ensure a welcoming and nurturing environment for all members of the CSU community.

Salary Information:

- Anticipated salary hiring range: $240,000 - $294,000 annually
- Premium benefit package including outstanding vacation, health, and dental plans
- Fee waiver education program
- Membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)
- 15 paid holidays per year

Job Title: Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights Programming and Services

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including extensive experience in Title IX, equity, equal opportunity, and civil rights compliance and programming.

Department: Civil Rights Programming and Services

Location: Long Beach, California (with telecommuting option)

Key Responsibilities:

- Strengthen systemwide civil rights operations through fair and effective policies and practices, and oversight for campus civil rights offices
- Provide strategic leadership and best practices, aligning systemwide policies with legal requirements and promoting equity and compliance
- Support and develop systemwide civil rights professionals, providing expertise and oversight for Title IX, DHR, and whistleblower programs
- Advance education, prevention, and reporting through training, initiatives, and campus climate assessments
- Lead systemwide compliance and oversight, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment across 23 universities
- Oversee investigations and risk management, proactively identifying and addressing potential compliance issues

Qualifications:

- Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including extensive experience in Title IX, equity, equal opportunity, and civil rights compliance and programming
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing compliance requirements with care and respect
- Demonstrated experience in working with diverse communities
- Extensive experience supervising a team of professionals

Preferred Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (JD) or other doctoral degree
- Experience in a higher education, judicial, or regulatory compliance setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Leadership and strategy skills, with the ability to set direction and develop policies
- Extensive knowledge of federal and California civil rights laws
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills
- Experience leading and supervising multidisciplinary teams

- Flexibility to travel and work outside of normal business hours

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Expertise in higher education civil rights compliance
- Experience in professional development and training on civil rights and investigations
- Knowledge of data-driven assessment practices
- Familiarity with CSU's mission and vision
