Software Patent Associate or Patent Agent - Junior to Mid-level
Job Responsibilities:
The Software Patent Associate or Patent Agent will support the Intellectual Property Practice Group at the law firm, focusing on the strategic development of patent portfolios. Responsibilities include:
- Patent procurement and prosecution
- Client counseling and patent portfolio management
- Supporting patent analysis and patent litigation
- Engaging directly with clients from various industries both domestically and internationally
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality IP services
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- 1-4 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience, either in-house or as outside counsel, specifically in software areas such as machine learning, cloud computing/networking, cryptography, information security, or distributed ledger technology
- A BS degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or a BA degree in computer science is preferred, though candidates with other degrees will be considered
- Legal, industry, and/or academic experience in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and/or computer science, particularly with wireless communications, robotics, basic or electrical components is desirable
- Active bar admission in California, New York, Oregon, Washington, or Washington, . for Patent Attorneys
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a large docket and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with operations of large organizations with established patent programs, including international organizations
- Strong work ethic and responsiveness to client needs
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Salary Information:
The annualized salary range for this position in California, New York, Washington, and Washington, . is $205,000 to $260,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a range of benefits including:
