Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager, Accounting Methods, is responsible for helping companies optimize their federal tax accounting methods. This includes areas such as IRC 263(A) capitalization, depreciation accounting methods, expense acceleration, and revenue deferral. The role is part of the department, which aims to assist companies in complying with federal, state, and international tax laws.

Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough research to identify situations where further investigation of tax implications is necessary, ensuring accuracy of facts and sources, and preparing studies of tax implications with alternative courses of action.
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities, minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and completing appropriate workpapers and tax return forms.
- Developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to maximize clients' tax benefits, staying informed of new legal and factual developments, and identifying process improvements.
- Representing clients before tax authorities and responding effectively to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues regarding tax accounting methods and identifying client opportunities and issues related to other tax specializations.
- Developing new strategies to advance the position of clients and the company, suggesting marketing approaches, and building effective go-to-market strategies.
- Preparing proposals, statements of work, engagement letters, and creating training materials for internal audiences.

Supervisory responsibilities include:
- Supervising and reviewing the work of Senior Associates and Associates, ensuring they are well trained, evaluating their performance, and acting as a career advisor.

Education and Experience:
Education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for degrees in Accounting, Tax, or Finance. A Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate (.) is preferred.

Experience requirements include:
- A minimum of seven years of prior federal tax client service experience.
- Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals.
- Preferred experience with accounting methods, preparing/reviewing tax provisions, corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships.

License/Certifications:
Candidates must have a CPA certification, be an attorney admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction, or be an Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) or equivalent.

Software skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and experience with tax-related software and research databases.

Other skills required are:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and research skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to effectively manage a team and build strong relationships with firm and client personnel.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary ,500, with similar ranges in specific locations such as Maryland, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, and Washington DC.
