Shumaker is seeking a Benefits Associate Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join our team in Florida and nationwide. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated and challenging cases for clients in various locations, while also enjoying a welcoming and collegial work culture.
As a Benefits Associate Attorney at Shumaker, you will use your knowledge of retirement plans, health and welfare plans, Taft-Hartley benefit plans, and executive compensation to manage complex case assignments. With strong communication, research, and writing skills, as well as the ability to manage and communicate with clients, you will play a crucial role in our team.

Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active Florida bar license
- 5+ years of professional ERISA law practice experience
- Strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Superior research skills, including the use of online services and databases
- Project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
In order to perform the duties of this position, you must be able to meet the following physical requirements:
- Sitting for up to one-half hour at a time
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to one hour per day
- Bending and stooping occasionally, up to one-half hour per day
