Job Title: Claims Specialist (DP&E)
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations to determine liability, damages, and coverage under environmental package policies.
- Make recommendations regarding resolution strategy for claims, including reserve adequacy, and execute such strategy on behalf of the company, with or without outside counsel.
- Excel in a best practices claim environment, thoroughly documenting the claim process.
- Analyze liability and damages issues in connection with complex primary and excess claims and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Timely make recommendations regarding resolution strategy for claims, including reserve adequacy.
- Analyze insurance coverage issues and timely draft coverage letters.
- Collaborate in the defense and resolution of claims.
- Evaluate and maintain a full pending claims diary in connection with the posting and maintaining of accurate reserves.
- Maintain and develop relationships with brokers, risk managers, general counsels, and a variety of vendors.
- Provide data and analytic-based informational support to underwriters.
- Support underwriters with respect to marketing efforts, policy wording, and trending discussions.
- Participate in mediations and trials as required and travel if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of experience involving casualty and/or environmental duty to defend liability claims, either in-house or in private practice.
- Solid understanding of individual and group performance metrics and KPIs.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, interact with others, meet deadlines, and successfully perform in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
Other Desired Skills & Characteristics:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint preferred.
- Proficient in drafting coverage correspondence, experience in writing coverage letters, and other reporting communications.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Team player who has a positive outlook, flexible, organized, efficient, and timely.
- Location: New York, Red Bank, Alpharetta, or Chicago.
- Hybrid Work Environment – 3 Days in Office.
- State Adjuster licenses where required.
Salary Information:
For this position, the company expects to offer a base salary in the range of $85K - $125K. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors, including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
