Job Title: Tax Manager, Alternative Investments

Job Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance:
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensure self and client service teams comply with all company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Apply understanding of client’s unique circumstances, documentation, and legal requirements to prepare required filings (tax returns).
- Collect all necessary data for filing requirements and communicate any missing items needed to prepare returns.
- Use company compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborate effectively with Principals, Tax Seniors, and Associates on project completion, including follow-up with open items.
- Deliver high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Lead complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Manage engagement including billing, collections, and budgeting for projects.
- Build and manage client relationships.
- Document client work and conclusions in the client tax file.

Tax Consulting:
- Assist with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor teams of Tax Seniors and Associates.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preference for a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.

Experience:
- Five or more years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is beneficial.

Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
