The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania (USAO) is seeking motivated law students to join our team as volunteers during the academic year. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Assistant United States Attorneys on a variety of legal assignments and gain valuable experience in federal civil, criminal, and appellate cases. This is an uncompensated position, but course credit and work-study credit may be available depending on your school's requirements.

About the Office:
- Represents the United States in all criminal prosecutions and civil and appellate litigation in the Western District of Pennsylvania
- Consists of 25 counties in the western part of the state with main office in Pittsburgh and branch offices in Erie and Johnstown
- Strives to provide an inclusive and rewarding work environment for employees of all backgrounds

Job Description:
- Perform legal research and writing assignments in federal civil, criminal, or appellate cases
- Work closely with Assistant United States Attorneys on case development and legal strategy
- Attend and observe various court proceedings

Qualifications:
- Must be a current law student, graduates are not eligible
- Superior research and writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Team player
- Commitment to fairness and integrity in the administration of justice
- Must be a . citizen
- Required background check due to sensitive nature of work
