Fall Internship Program Information:

- Organization: Allegheny County District Attorney's Office
- Job Title: Fall Intern
- Experience: Law students interested in public service and criminal law
- Salary: Paid positions available, 20 hours per week

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office offers law students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public service and criminal law through their Fall Internship Program. This program is open to students who are interested in pursuing a career in law and are looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

The internship program is administered by Assistant District Attorney Sarah Weikart, who can be contacted for any questions or inquiries about the program. The program offers placements in various units within the Office, including the Violent Crimes/Firearms unit.

Fall applications for the program will open on July 1, 2025, and close on August 8, 2025. Interested students can apply by submitting a cover letter and resume to the designated email address.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office also participates in On Campus Interviews (OCIs) at various law schools. Students from Duquesne University School of Law, Pennsylvania State Law, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, West Virginia University School of Law, University of Dayton School of Law, Villanova School of Law, University of Pennsylvania School of Law, Akron School of Law, and The Ohio State University School of Law can apply for a summer position through their school's OCI program. Non-OCI applicants can also submit their applications directly to the office's designated email address.

Undergraduate students who have been approved to receive credit for a position in the office can also apply by submitting a cover letter and resume. However, approval for credits does not guarantee a position and students will still have to go through the interview process.

The internship duties for all interns include legal research and writing, clerical duties, and assisting attorneys in trial and hearing preparation. Certified Legal Interns have the additional responsibility of appearing in court on behalf of the Commonwealth under the direct supervision of an Assistant District Attorney. This is a valuable opportunity for students to gain courtroom experience before finishing law school.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office also offers a limited number of paid internship positions that continue throughout the year. Interested students can inquire about these positions by contacting the designated individuals.

In summary, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office offers a comprehensive Fall Internship Program for law students interested in public service and criminal law. The program provides hands-on experience, valuable skills, and the opportunity to work in a professional setting. Paid positions are available for a commitment of 20 hours per week. Interested students can apply through various channels, including On Campus Interviews (OCIs), direct applications, and for undergraduate students, through approved credits. This is a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience and enhance their career prospects in the field of law.
