Job Title: Innovation Strategy Manager

Job Responsibilities:
The Innovation Strategy Manager at the law firm is responsible for managing the firm's practice innovation pipeline. This role involves overseeing the discovery, incubation, piloting, and evaluation of new product opportunities that can benefit the firm and its attorneys. Key responsibilities include:

- Managing the practice innovation pipeline to identify and evaluate new product opportunities.
- Utilizing best practices in user research and design to understand attorney and client pain points and improve legal workflows.
- Refining and scaling the practice innovation process to enhance efficiency and transparency in product decision-making.
- Identifying and evaluating innovation opportunities by leveraging emerging technologies and AI advancements.
- Building strong working relationships with change management, innovation counsel, product, engineering, and other teams to evaluate products and use cases, conduct pilots, launch products, and drive engagement.
- Collaborating with the Associate Director of Practice Innovation and innovation leadership to develop a data-driven evaluation process to quantify the business value of practice-facing products.
- Managing direct reports with a focus on fostering a high-performance, collaborative, innovative, and results-driven team culture.
- Developing and adopting unified work management practices across practice innovation to promote transparency, clarity, scalability, and efficiency.
- Serving as a direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports, providing day-to-day supervision, ensuring compliance with firm and department policies, managing staffing coverage, and processing time logs/time off requests.
- Supporting business professional development and continued educational opportunities for team members.
- Participating in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination, and other employee lifecycle events in collaboration with immediate supervisor and HR.
- Performing all other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications after orientation.
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours as required.
- Ability to travel as required.
- A minimum of 5 years of directly applicable experience in areas such as user research, design thinking or human-centered design facilitation, product discovery process, prototyping, legal technology use and adoption, and quantitative evaluation. Senior designation is possible with 7+ years of applicable experience and 2+ years of exempt/management experience.
- Advanced knowledge of the workflows and core needs of practicing lawyers.
- Strong understanding of legal technology, emerging technology, and AI.
- Experience in managing cross-functional projects involving users, product and design, knowledge management, technology, and practicing lawyers and clients.

Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctor (JD), or non-US equivalent.
- Experience with core large law technologies such as iManage or NetDocs, Elite 3E, Intapp products, Litera products, Thomson Reuters, and Lexis products.
- Strong effective presentation experience and skills to varied audiences.
- Experience with technology usage data and metrics, and ability to leverage data for insights and storytelling using data visualization applications such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Project management experience.
- Supervisory experience.

Competencies:
- Strong focus on identifying core user and business needs and delighting users at scale.
- Advanced knowledge of product process, including design thinking and human-centered design methodologies, and experience in facilitating user research and journey mapping.
- Strong leadership experience and ability to build, manage, and mentor a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to legal professionals and senior executives.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across various departments (product, engineering, change management, practicing attorneys, clients, etc.).
- Strong prioritization, project management, creative problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to focus on detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Salary Information:
The expected annual pay range for this full-time position is $115,000 - $170,000, with senior-level candidates eligible for a higher salary range based on experience. The final offer amount will depend on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
