Job Title: Logistics Counsel (EM6639-14)

Job Responsibilities:
As a Logistics Counsel, the primary responsibility is to provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal support to various business stakeholders within the company's Smart Logistics (SL) business. Key duties include:

- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to logistics services, including warehouse management, transportation, and related legal documents.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate contract terms that protect the company's interests while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Analyzing claims data to determine validity, coverage, and liability, and providing strategic legal advice for resolution.
- Communicating effectively with insurance brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks by monitoring legislative and regulatory changes in transportation, trade, and supply chain management.
- Serving as the internal subject matter expert on contracts, applicable laws, rules and regulations, and policies related to claims.
- Representing SL Legal in internal and external meetings with customers, vendors, partners, outside counsel, auditors, and insurance providers.
- Developing comprehensive reports and analyses for management, including claim reports and ad-hoc assessments.
- Conducting training sessions to promote legal compliance, contract awareness, and best practices across the organization.
- Managing claims litigation strategy, including settlements and insurance coverage, and attending arbitrations, mediations, or trials as needed.
- Staying current with evolving regulations from FMCSA, FMC, and other relevant authorities.
- Supporting cross-functional teams across time zones and cultures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- A is required.
- The candidate must be an active member of the Texas bar license in good standing.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant legal working experience is required, particularly in trucks/trailers, cargo/freight damages, property damages, maritime claims, disputes, and insurance preferred.
- The candidate should be able to produce reports to support findings and analyses and must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, with the ability to communicate information in a clear and understandable manner.
- A positive attitude and high energy are required to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain a sense of urgency, and perform with a clear head under pressure.
- The candidate should be a self-motivated individual with an assertive attitude, excel in a team-based environment yet able to work independently.
- The ability to multitask and collaborate across different time zones is important.
- Strong customer service and people skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based applications, claims platform is required.

Salary Information:
The base pay is part of the total compensation package and is determined within a range. It allows for progression as the employee grows and develops within the position. The base pay will depend on skills, education, qualifications, experience, and location.
